Ideal for handling solar screens in existing, builder-grade windows. My new 3' wide by 5' high frame keeps solar screen tight with no bowing or warping and no center brace required.

nice sturdy frame

Advantages: Stiff, much stronger than standard. Looks great with the miter corners (instead of plastic) will use in the future

Disadvantages: Might be a bit to heavy duty for some windows.

The project was for making solar screens. Since the stuff at the local big box stores was too flimsy for my purposes, I decided to give these guys a try. Overall the product was perfect from my purposes.

Advantages: The .025 gauge is of sufficient strength to support the solar screen material. This frame thickess also allowed me to make 3 X 6 foot frames without the need for cross-bracing.

Disadvantages: There were a couple of things that I didn't like about the frames (neither of which would prevent me from purchasing more).

1) There was minor damage to three of the frames upon receipt. It appears that this damage was made before the items were shipped. A couple of the frames were crushed at the tips. Since I was cutting-off that much, it didn't matter. One screen was crinkled a bit were the frames were banded together. Since it was hardly noticeable, I also let that one slide.

2) The paint job on these frames leaves a little to be desired. The edges didn't have any paint on them. It appears that the frames are folded before they are painted. Since you can't see the edges once the screens are installed, it really didn't matter that much.

Ordered screen frame, corners and fiberglass screen to build screens for large openings in a 3 season room. Was reluctant to order on-line but everything was exactly as described. Order arrived complete and well packaged.Screen frames went together without a problem. Would highly recommend Quality Screen for your DIY project.

I am renovating an old house and needed some screen frame sizes not available in stores. I ordered these and was able to make frames that went well with the old house. Very happy.

Received quickly. I lost instructions from previous order and customer service was very quick sending me new copy

Advantages: Got just what I ordered. Good place for screen material if you are DIYer

Disadvantages: I'm sort of rough with things. Seems that frame scratched easier than expected.

These heavy duty frames were just what I needed for large porch screens that occasionally were subjected to very heavy winds. The standard duty frames would bow so much that they wouldn't stay in place.

Advantages: Withstand heavy wind. Ease of assembly

Disadvantages: The recommended .150 spline material was very difficult to install with nylon screening. .125 was much easier and hopefully will hold the screening in heavy winds.

Wonderfully heavy material. Needed something more substantial when installing pet screening, which warped and twisted the original frame, making a tight fit impossible.

Advantages: Heavy duty, easy to cut with a hacksaw.

Disadvantages: Needed to order a minimum quantity of eight, even though I only used three lengths.

Use of the 1” frames was a good choice for my project as the screens were 5’ wide. I should have purchased recommended spline here as I had to use slightly bigger from big box store. Spline I used was tight and thus hard to install. Very pleased with all materials purchased from Quality Screen Co.

Recently I purchased the 1" frames, solid corners, spline, screws and all the other material I needed to build solar screen panels for the windows on the back of my home . I contacted the guys several times by phone and email with questions I had about what materials I would need for my particular project. They were very courteous and most helpful and made my project go very smoothly. The video that Patrick presented was also very helpful. Once I placed the order it was delivered in a few days by FedEx and was in good shape. The screens look great and I am getting lots of positive comments from my neighbors. When I get ready to do the front of my home I will definitely contact the gang at Quality Screen ! Thanks, Jerry

Advantages: The tan color matched my stucco great. The one inch frames are definitely the way to go and should be encouraged.

Disadvantages: In your video you should discuss attaching to stucco and mention the Velcro that you have available. You also might mention using some sort of cross bar placed temporarily in the middle of long frames to keep from drawing the frames in too far when you stretch and spline the screen.

We ordered 2 - 36x60 sun screen kits. Unfortunately 3 pieces of the frame were crushed on one end when they arrived. No package damage so damage apparently occurred at QS plant. Assembled 1 kit VERY satisfied.
Reported damage to CS Replacement items shipped. This packaged arrived clearly damaged in shipment (box crushed right where FRAGILE sticker placed!!) Received 2nd replacement this time supported by length of scrap wood! Assembled 2nd screen and installed Beautiful Color is perfect!!

A couple of hints Get 1" wide not 3/4" frame This small difference in size and cost makes a BIG difference in strength of finished screen

Also be patient Don't rush assembly Taking a few extra minutes and follow instuctions Watch on line videos Will make a big difference in results

Advantages: Quality strength colors
Assembly is simple if you are patient and careful

Disadvantages: None

This was my first time ever making my own window screens, and I did it and I think I did a good job. When I started thinking adding solar screens to my windows at home, I had my doubts about doing a good job myself, but with the videos available on qualitywindoscreen.com, all of my doubts melted away. Also, with the assistance from the Tech support at QWS, it became a piece of cake. I actually was challenged with the screen sizes. The front of the house has 2 screens of 3'x6' and 2 screens of 6'x6', and boy were the larges screens a major challenge to me being a newbie at this. Because of their size I had to support the screens vertically and horizontally, without bulging in the middle. I figured it out eventually, and all of the screens are up, and my neighbors were very complementary about the quality of the screens. Well I want to thank QWS for their help, especially Eric, for their support in person and in videos. I plan to add solar screens to the rest of the windows on the house, now that I have this experience behind me. Also, my neighbors are now interested in doing the same.

Advantages: I looked for good quality frame material and I found it at QWS. I used the 1' frame as recommended by Eric, and that was a good recommendation. If I had used the narrower frame that would have created a problem with the strong modulus of the screen itself, potentially pulling the frame in as it is made stretched taut

Disadvantages: Lack of experience but I had overcome that by getting started.

Thank you quality screen for your assistance! I enjoy DIY projects at home and with the parts I ordered from you, I was able to save several hundred dollars in construction and installation costs!

Advantages: Quality Screen Co sent me color samples of their frame materials so I could match the existing screen frames exactly. Neither of the two big chain home improvement stores carried my color.

Disadvantages: I would like to see a video added to your collection on how to build a screen. I muddled through it okay, but would have preferred to see it done - the other videos on your website were very helpful. Also, the misspellings on the website were a little distracting, but did not affect the quality of the materials you sent me.

bought screen, framing materials, spline, all from Quality Screen. All was fine. I painted the frame to match the porch. Two pieces of advice would have helped me make the job easier the first time. The frame material must be primed with the correct primer for paint to stick. I eventually used Kilz "Adhesion" which worked well. Also, a caution to make sure no paint gets in the spline groove.
